|Greetings!Next Wednesday is the start of Lent, a time of preparation for Christ’s Resurrection on Easter Sunday. Click here for an up-to-date list of Ash Wednesday Mass times in the Archdiocese of Vancouver. And click here to get the Confession Kit and other resources for coming home to the Sacrament of Reconciliation. In his first Message for Lent since his election, Pope Francis offers some thoughts on the theme “He became poor, so that by his poverty you might become rich (cf. 2 Corinthians 8:9)”. You can read his Message for Lent here. |
Lent is a season of penance, prayer, fasting and almsgiving and the Canadian Conference of Catholic Bishops (CCCB) have suggestions for homilies and prayers that can easily be adapted for family prayer, as well as for personal prayer or for use with other groups.
In upcoming Friday Reports, we’ll provide a list of special parish penitential services where you can find opportunities for confession.
And please keep in mind the CCODP annual Share Lent campaign. Development and Peace has joined Caritas Internationalis’s global campaign One Human Family, Food for All to end hunger. Watch for weekly announcements leading up to April 6, Solidarity Sunday, the fifth Sunday of Lent!
