Greetings!Fresh from the excitement of last weekend’s sold-out ONE Conference we’re already gearing up for our next big event, and it’s coming fast! It’s Two Popes, Two Saints, the April 27 canonization of Popes John XXIII and John Paul II. And BREAKING NEWS! The location has now been confirmed: 826.png the PNE Coliseum, official venue of the figure skating and short track speed skating events at the 2010 Olympic Winter Games.So, the same day the two blessed Popes are canonized in Rome, Divine Mercy Sunday, the Sunday after Easter, the Archdiocese of Vancouver will hold a celebration at the PNE Coliseum, starting at 2 pm. Hosted by the Office of Catechetics, the evening begins at 6 pm with a light supper and includes a reflection by a local priest, opportunities for quiet prayer, and some practical teaching ideas.Friday, February 28 at St. Joseph Parish, Langley with Fr. Is it too late for Christians in the Middle East?

Carl Hétu, National Director of the Catholic Near East Welfare Association (CNEWA), will be the special guest speaker at St. Patrick’s Parish, Vancouver, next Wednesday, Feb. 26, at 7 pm. He will give an analysis on how the current situation in the Middle East (particularly in Syria, Iraq and Egypt) is threatening the Christian presence in the region.

Entrance is free. Light refreshments will be served.

Archbishop Miller this week called on the B.C. government to reconsider its decision not to prosecute some prostitution-related offences. He also announced a special committee of stakeholders to assess the legal vacuum and the impact it is having on sex trafficking. You can read his statement here.
