Weekly Catechism:
CHAPTER TWO
I BELIEVE IN JESUS CHRIST, THE ONLY SON OF GOD
II. CHRIST
437    To the shepherds, the angel announced the birth of Jesus as the Messiah promised to Israel: “To you is born this day in the city of David a Savior, who is Christ the Lord.”32 From the beginning he was “the one whom the Father consecrated and sent into the world,” conceived as “holy” in Mary’s virginal womb.33 God called Joseph to “take Mary as your wife, for that which is conceived in her is of the Holy Spirit,” so that Jesus, “who is called Christ,” should be born of Joseph’s spouse into the messianic lineage of David.34 (525, 486)

STEWARDSHIP REFLECTION

“He instructed them to take nothing for the journey but a walking stick – no food, no sack, no money in their belts.” (Mark 6:8)
How different we are from the Apostles who took nothing when they ventured out to serve God.  Today, we make our journey through life more difficult because of all the material baggage that we drag along.  Yet, the more we can let go of, the freer we are to serve God with love and joy.

Project Advance – our annual appeal: Project Advance is the key annual appeal for the Archdiocese of Vancouver. It is crucial to the Church’s mission of providing services that benefit all Catholics and countless others in our Archdiocese. Not only does it provide for our local Church but it strengthens our parishes, helping each parish meet its own unique needs. It also helps support the many different ways we see the face of Jesus in our brothers and sisters – helping the most vulnerable by providing guidance, shelter, food and love to those who are homeless, abused and marginalized. You can donate to this important annual appeal at www.rcav.org/giving or at your parish. Visit rcav.org/project-advance for more information.
