Weekly Catechism:
CHAPTER TWO
I BELIEVE IN JESUS CHRIST, THE ONLY SON OF GOD
II. CHRIST
438   Jesus’ messianic consecration reveals his divine mission, “for the name ‘Christ’ implies ‘he who anointed,’ ‘he who was anointed’ and ‘the very anointing with which he was anointed.’ The one who anointed is the Father, the one who was anointed is the Son, and he was anointed with the Spirit who is the anointing.”35 His eternal messianic consecration was revealed during the time of his earthly life at the moment of his baptism by John, when “God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Spirit and with power,” “that he might be revealed to Israel”36 as its Messiah. His works and words will manifest him as “the Holy One of God.”37 (727, 535)

STEWARDSHIP REFLECTION

“…come away by yourselves to a lonely place and rest awhile.”   (Mark 6:31)
Do you spend time listening for God? Most of the time, He speaks in soft whispers.  Open your heart and hear the Lord.  Take time in silence everyday and ask God what it is He wants you to do.  Consider making a retreat this year.

Project Advance – our annual appeal: Project Advance is the key annual appeal for the Archdiocese of Vancouver. It is crucial to the Church’s mission of providing services that benefit all Catholics and countless others in our Archdiocese. Not only does it provide for our local Church but it strengthens our parishes, helping each parish meet its own unique needs. It also helps support the many different ways we see the face of Jesus in our brothers and sisters – helping the most vulnerable by providing guidance, shelter, food and love to those who are homeless, abused and marginalized. You can donate to this important annual appeal at www.rcav.org/giving or at your parish. Visit rcav.org/project-advance for more information.
