Our Lady Of Mercy Parish’s Bulletin For October 11, 2015

Standard
28th Sunday in Ordinary Time

Dear Parishioners:

We’ve just celebrated two big events, the Feast of Our Lady of Mercy and the Eucharistic Miracles Exhibition. May these two events inspire us to appreciate and to live our faith more. Again, I would like to thank all of you who have taken  part in these events and continue to support the next coming events in 2016, such as Food Bank Drive, Fr. Rob Galea’s concert, the talk with Fr. Jacques Philippe etc., as we are going to celebrate our 75th Anniversary in 2016. Please pray for all events that we are holding in order to build a strong and faithful community.

Sincerely in Christ,

Father Nicolas

Stewardship Reflections

“It is easier for a camel to pass through the eye of a needle than for one who is rich to enter the kingdom of God.”  (Mark 10:25)

Jesus uses tough language that we may not want to hear.  But, we are all called to be generous with all our gifts.  Not just the ones we pick and choose, but all our gifts: our time in prayer to God, our talent in participating in parish ministries and our treasure supporting our local parish and other charities.

Weekly Catechism:

CHAPTER TWO

I BELIEVE IN JESUS CHRIST, THE ONLY SON OF GOD

IV. Lord

449      By attributing to Jesus the divine title “Lord,” the first confessions of the Church’s faith affirm from the beginning that the power, honor, and glory due to God the Father are due also to Jesus, because “he was in the form of God,”65 and the Father manifested the sovereignty of Jesus by raising him from the dead and exalting him into his glory.66 (461, 653)

450      From the beginning of Christian history, the assertion of Christ’s lordship over the world and over history has implicitly recognized that man should not submit his personal freedom in an absolute manner to any earthly power, but only to God the Father and the Lord Jesus Christ: Caesar is not “the Lord.”67 “The Church… believes that the key, the center, and the purpose of the whole of man’s history is to be found in its Lord and Master.”68 (668-672, 2242)
