Our Lady Of Mercy Parish’s Bulletin For October 4, 2015

Standard
27th Sunday in Ordinary Time

Dear Parishioners:
I would like to take this opportunity to thank our Archbishop Miller who opened our Eucharistic Miracles of the World Exhibition with Mass, our speakers Fr. John Horgan and Graham Osborne,
all who supported this exhibition and also to our committee who have prepared this exhibition so well. I hope that through these exhibition and talks we are more inspired to come to Mass eagerly and reverently. There are more events coming soon that I would like you to support and spread them to all your family, relative and friends. May The Lord Jesus bless all of you who have been and
will be part of the events.

Sincerely in Christ,
Father Nicolas

Stewardship Reflections

So out of the ground the Lord God formed every beast of the field and every bird of the air, and brought them to the man to see what he would call them; and whatever the man called every living creature, that was its name.”   (Genesis 2:19)

The creation story reminds us of two important points.  First, since the start, God has put the entire world into our care.  Second, stewardship has been around since the beginning of mankind, it isn’t something recently invented by the Church.  Just as past generations built our Church, it is now our responsibility to continue to nurture and develop these gifts for future generations.

Weekly Catechism:

CHAPTER TWO

I BELIEVE IN JESUS CHRIST, THE ONLY SON OF GOD
IV. Lord
447    Jesus ascribes this title to himself in a veiled way when he disputes with the Pharisees about the meaning of Psalm 110, but also in an explicit way when he addresses his apostles. 61 Throughout his public life, he demonstrated his divine sovereignty by works of power over nature, illnesses, demons, death, and sin. (548)
448   Very often in the Gospels people address Jesus as “Lord.” This title testifies to the respect and trust of those who approach him for help and healing.62 At the prompting of the Holy Spirit, “Lord” expresses the recognition of the divine mystery of Jesus. 63 In the encounter with the risen Jesus, this title becomes adoration: “My Lord and my God!” It thus takes on a connotation of love and affection that remains proper to the Christian tradition: “It is the Lord!”. 64 (208, 683, 641)
