January 31st, 2016 * 4th Sunday in Ordinary Time *
Next Wednesday, we begin our Lenten season, it is a time to cleanse our heart from anything that prevent our growth with God and others. Perhaps the talk given by Mrs. Heather MacPhail on Feb 11-13 might help us to grow in our relation with God and others as Fr. Julian D. Studden, the Pastor of St. Michael Catholic Community in Calgary who had attended her talk many times gain the benefits from her talks. Therefore I encourage you to check the schedule and bring as many of your family members, relatives and friends to this talk so you all together in your relation with one another. I pray that we could bear the fruits in this Lenten season.
Sincerely in Christ,

“I BELIEVE IN JESUS CHRIST, THE ONLY SON OF GOD”
The Son of God Became Man
IV. How Is the Son of God Man?
Christ’s True Body
476 Since the Word became flesh in assuming a true humanity, Christ’s body was finite.112 Therefore the human face of Jesus can be portrayed; at the seventh ecumenical council (Nicaea II in 787) the Church recognized its representation in holy images to be legitimate.113 (1159-1162, 2129-2132)
477 At the same time the Church has always acknowledged that in the body of Jesus “we see our God made visible and so are caught up in love of the God we cannot see.”114 The individual
characteristics of Christ’s body express the divine person of God’s Son. He has made the features of his human body his own, to the point that they can be venerated when portrayed in a holy image, for the believer “who venerates the icon is venerating in it the person of the one depicted.”115
The heart of the Incarnate Word
478 Jesus knew and loved us each and all during his life, his agony, and his Passion and gave himself up for each one of us: “The Son of God… loved me and gave himself for me.”116 He has loved us all with a human heart. For this reason, the Sacred Heart of Jesus, pierced by our sins and for our salvation,117 “is quite rightly considered the chief sign and symbol of that… love with which the divine Redeemer continually loves the eternal Father and all human beings” without exception.118 (487, 368, 2669, 766)
Year of Mercy Reflections
January 31st, 2016 *4th Sunday in Ordinary Time* :
“What is the danger? It is that we presume we are righteous and judge others. We also judge God, because we think that he should punish sinners, condemn them to death, instead of forgiving. So, ‘yes,’ then we risk staying outside the Father’s house.” – Pope Francis
Prayers for the Sick
In your prayers, please remember the sick: Anaceto Rabang, Delima Ngui, Sydney Shanti, Joveno Labandelo, Marie Piche, Lourdes Andal, Eleonora Favaro and Miguel Concon.
Holy Communion: Any one who is shut-in and wishes to receive the Eucharist please let us know. If you have a loved one who is sick and needs our prayers, and would like to insert their name in the bulletin, kindly contact the office.
“Love is patient, love is kind. It is not jealous, it is not pompous.” (1 Corinthians 13:4)
Do you get jealous? Do you focus more on the things that other people have than on the gifts
that God has given to you? Are you pompous? Do you acquire more possessions to impress others?
At times we are all guilty of these things. Pray for more humility. Pray to become less self-centered and more God-centered.
