February 14th, 2016 * 1th Sunday of Lent *
We just entered the season of Lent on the Ash Wednesday and there were a great number of you attending the Mass. I hope that this good sign will continue with the different spiritual activities in our parish. I just finished with the three days talks given by Ms. Heather McPhail and thank to Ms. Maria Lawrence and the team who organized this event and I hope it will give a great benefit to the people. Starting Feb 19, there is a Lenten talk every Friday given by different priests from our archdiocese at the school gym at 7.30 pm and then March 1-3 Father Remi Liando SSCC from Rome will lead us for three night Lenten recollection which theme is “St. Damien of Molokai and Mercy” at 7 pm in our church. I hope that all these events will help you to observe this lent well and grow spiritually. Please invite your family members and friends to be part of the events. May Jesus Mary and Joseph be with us and bless us during this Lenten season.
Sincerely in Christ,

“I BELIEVE IN JESUS CHRIST, THE ONLY SON OF GOD”
The Son of God Became Man
Paragraph 2. “Conceived by the Power of the Holy Spirit and Born of the Virgin Mary”
I. Conceived by the Power of the Holy Spirit…
484 The Annunciation to Mary inaugurates “the fullness of time,”119 the time of the fulfillment of God’s promises and preparations. Mary was invited to conceive him in whom the “whole fullness of deity” would dwell “bodily.”120 The divine response to her question, “How can this be, since I know not man?” was given by the power of the Spirit: “The Holy Spirit will come upon you.”121 (461, 721)
485 The mission of the Holy Spirit is always conjoined and ordered to that of the Son.122 The Holy Spirit, “the Lord, the giver of Life,” is sent to sanctify the womb of the Virgin Mary and divinely fecundate it, causing her to conceive the eternal Son of the Father in a humanity drawn from her own. (689, 723)
486 The Father’s only Son, conceived as man in the womb of the Virgin Mary, is “Christ,” that is to say, anointed by the Holy Spirit, from the beginning of his human existence, though the manifestation of this fact takes place only progressively: to the shepherds, to the magi, to John the Baptist, to the disciples.123
Thus the whole life of Jesus Christ will make manifest “how God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Spirit and with power.”124
Year of Mercy Reflections
February 14 – 1st Sunday of Lent :
“We need constantly to contemplate the mystery of mercy. It is a wellspring of joy, serenity, and peace. Our salvation depends on it. Mercy: the word reveals the very mystery of the Most Holy Trinity.” – Pope Francis
Prayers for the Sick
In your prayers, please remember the sick:Anaceto Rabang, Delima Ngui, Sydney Shanti, Joveno Labandelo, Marie Piche, Lourdes Andal, Eleonora Favaro and Miguel Concon.
Holy Communion: Any one who is shut-in and wishes to receive the Eucharist please let us know. If you have a loved one who is sick and needs our prayers, and would like to insert their name in the bulletin, kindly contact the office.
“I have now brought you the first fruits of the products of the soil which you, O Lord, have given to me.” (Deuteronomy 26:10)
This line from the Old Testament offers two challenges. First, do you give to God from your “first fruits”, the best that you have to offer, or do you give from what is leftover? Second, do you remember that everything you have has been given to you by God? Ask God for a grateful and generous heart, every day.

The priests of the Congregation of the Sacred Hearts of Jesus and Mary are also known as the Picpus Fathers, because their first house was on the Rue de Picpus in Paris, France. Their post-nominal letters, SS.CC., are the Latin initials for Sacrorum Cordium, “of the Sacred Hearts”. (The letters are doubled to indicate that both words are plural, a convention of Latin abbreviations).
