February 21th, 2016 * 2nd Sunday of Lent *
As I have announced a few weeks ago that our parish will sponsor the Syrian refugees, let us pray for them that the process will go smoothly and at the same time let us also prepare for their coming. We will also establish a team that could prepare for their coming and help them for the first year of their arrival. We certainly need your help with whatever you can. Again the concert of Fr. Robert Galea on March 6 will be one of the ways we will raise fund for our refugees, therefore we need your help to sell the ticket $15 per person. Don’t forget also to take the benefit of our Lenten activities like the Lenten talk every Friday at 7.30 pm at the OLM gym and the Lenten recollection on March 1-3 at 7 pm at the church. Please invite your family, relatives and friends so all of you could prepare well for Easter and grow in your spiritual life. Have a fruitful lent.
Sincerely in Christ,

“I BELIEVE IN JESUS CHRIST, THE ONLY SON OF GOD”
The Son of God Became Man
Paragraph 2. “Conceived by the Power of the Holy Spirit and Born of the Virgin Mary”
II. …Born of the Virgin Mary
487 What the Catholic faith believes about Mary is based on what it believes about Christ, and what it teaches about Mary illumines in turn its faith in Christ. (963)
488 “God sent forth his Son,” but to prepare a body for him,125 he wanted the free cooperation of a creature. For this, from all eternity God chose for the mother of his Son a daughter of Israel, a young Jewish woman of Nazareth in Galilee, “a virgin betrothed to a man whose name was Joseph, of the house of David; and the virgin’s name was Mary”:126
The Father of mercies willed that the Incarnation should be preceded by assent on the part of the predestined mother, so that just as a woman had a share in the coming of death, so also should a woman contribute to the coming of life.127
Year of Mercy Reflections
“’Yet mercy triumphs over judgement.’ (Ignatian Exercises #s 48, 55). This seems too much to hope for. But it cannot be too much if the whole mystery of the Redemption hinges on this: the exercise of mercy is to be a portent of predestination and salvation.” – St. John XXIII
