Our Lady of Mercy Parish’s Bulletin for April 10th, 2016. * 3rd Sunday of Easter *

Standard
April 10, 2016. * 3rd Sunday of Easter *

Dear Parishioners,
As our parish is reaching its 75th year this year, one thing that all of us must aim is to have a harmonious parish not tranquil parish as Pope Francis warns against confusing’ “harmony” with “tranquillity”: “A community can be very tranquil…things are fine … But it is not harmonious. I once heard a wise thing from a bishop: ‘There is tranquillity in the diocese. But if you touch on a certain problem – this problem or that problem – war breaks out.’ This is negotiated harmony, and this is not of the Spirit. Harmony is an inner grace that only the Holy Spirit can grant’. Let us reflect on it and strife to achieve an harmonious parish and families through our prayers and efforts.

Sincerely in Christ,
Father Nicolas

Year of Mercy Reflections
“A merciful heart does not mean a weak heart. Anyone who wishes to be merciful must have a strong and steadfast heart, closed to the tempter but open to God. A heart that lets itself be pierced by the Spirit so as to bring love along the roads that lead to our brothers and sisters…”
-Pope Francis

Weekly Catechism:

CHAPTER TWO: I BELIEVE IN JESUS CHRIST, THE ONLY SON OF GOD

“HE WAS CONCEIVED BY THE POWER OF THE HOLY SPIRIT, AND WAS
BORN OF THE VIRGIN MARY”

Paragraph 2. “Conceived by the Power of the Holy Spirit and Born of the Virgin Mary”
The Immaculate Conception

491 Through the centuries the Church has become ever more aware that Mary, “full of grace” through God,134 was redeemed from the moment of her conception. That is what the dogma of the
Immaculate Conception confesses, as Pope Pius IX proclaimed in 1854: The most Blessed Virgin Mary was, from the first moment of her conception, by a singular grace and privilege of almighty God and by virtue of the merits of Jesus Christ, Savior of the human race, preserved immune from all stain of original sin.135
492 The “splendor of an entirely unique holiness” by which Mary is “enriched from the first instant of her conception” comes wholly from Christ: she is “redeemed, in a more exalted fashion, by reason of the merits of her Son.”136 The Father blessed Mary more than any other created person “in Christ with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places” and chose her “in Christ before the foundation of the world, to be holy and blameless before him in love.”137
493 The Fathers of the Eastern tradition call the Mother of God “the All-Holy” (Panagia) and celebrate her as “free from any stain of sin, as though fashioned by the Holy Spirit and formed as a new creature.”138 By the grace of God Mary remained free of every personal sin her whole life long. “Let it be done to me according to your word . . .”

Holy Communion:  Any one who is shut-in and wishes to receive  the Eucharist please let us know.  If you have a loved one who is sick and needs our prayers,  and would like to insert their name  in the bulletin, kindly contact the office.

STEWARDSHIP REFLECTIONS

“Peter was distressed that Jesus had said to him a third time, ‘Do you love me?’ and he said to him, ‘Lord, you know everything; you know that I love you.’ Jesus said to him, ‘Feed my
sheep.’” JOHN 21:17

All of us are challenged to show our love for Jesus by “feeding His sheep.” Through prayer ask God
how you should best use your time, talent and treasure to assist those who are in need. Remember that giving is an act of worship and helps advance the mission of our parish and greater Church.
