12th Sunday in Ordinary Time

Standard
June 19th, 2016. * 12th Sunday in Ordinary Time *

Dear Parishioners,
I would like to wish all Fathers ‘Happy Father’s day’.
Also on behalf of your wife and your children and myself I thank you for your dedication for your family and your presence with your family in the Mass. I just want to leave you with the words from William Shakespeare, an English poet, playwright and actor ‘It is a wise father that knows his own child’ so continue to be with your family and grow together in joy and sorrow. May St. Joseph inspire you to be a faithful father and a protector for your family.

Sincerely in Christ,
Father Nicolas

Year of Mercy Reflections
“Contemplating the Crucified One with the eyes of faith, we can understand in depth what sin is, how tragic is its gravity, and at the same time, how immense is the Lord’s power of forgiveness and mercy.”
– Pope Benedict XVI

Weekly Catechism:

CHAPTER TWO: I BELIEVE IN JESUS CHRIST, THE ONLY SON OF GOD

ARTICLE 3 : “HE WAS CONCEIVED BY THE POWER OF THE HOLY SPIRIT, AND WAS BORN OF THE VIRGIN MARY”
Paragraph 3. The Mysteries of Christ’s Life
516 Christ’s whole earthly life—his words and deeds, his silences and sufferings, indeed his manner of being and speaking —is Revelation of the Father. Jesus can say: “Whoever has seen me has seen the Father,” and the Father can say: “This is my Son, my Chosen; listen to him!”177 Because our Lord became man in order to do his Father’s will, even the least characteristics of his mysteries manifest “God’s love . . . among us.”178
517 Christ’s whole life is a mystery of redemption. Redemption comes to us above all through the blood of his cross,179 but this mystery is at work throughout Christ’s entire life: — already in his Incarnation through which by becoming poor he enriches us with his poverty;180 — in his hidden life which by his submission atones for our disobedience;181 — in his word which purifies its hearers;182 — in his healings and exorcisms by which “he took our infirmities and bore our diseases”;183 — and in his Resurrection by which he justifies us.184
518 Christ’s whole life is a mystery of recapitulation. All Jesus did, said, and suffered had for its aim restoring fallen man to his original vocation: When Christ became incarnate and was made man, he recapitulated in himself the long history of mankind and procured for us a ‘short cut’ to salvation, so that what we had lost in Adam, that is, being in the image and likeness of God, we might recover in Christ Jesus.185 For this reason Christ experienced all the stages of life, thereby giving communion with God to all men.186
Prayers for the Sick
In your prayers, please remember the sick:Anaceto Rabang, Sydney Shanti, Marie Piche, Lourdes Andal, George Gastaldo, Miguel Concon and Lorena Siglos, Candida De Souza, Pedro Romey and Dianne Slaght.
Holy Communion:  Any one who is shut-in and wishes to receive  the Eucharist please let us know.  If you have a loved one who is sick and needs our prayers,  and would like to insert their name  in the bulletin, kindly contact the office.

Our deepest condolences to the Garisto family for the passing of Joseph Vincent Garisto, father of Brad Garisto, last Sunday, May 29. Please pray for his soul and family for peace and strength.

STEWARDSHIP REFLECTIONS

“If anyone wishes to come after me, he must deny himself and take up his cross daily and follow me.”
LUKE 9:23

We are not very good at “denying ourselves” in our society. Our current economic situation is evidence of what happens when people think they can have everything they want. Jesus calls us to set our own personal “wants” aside so that we have the resources to follow Him instead.
