13th Sunday in Ordinary Time

Standard
June 26th, 2016. * 13th Sunday in Ordinary Time *

Dear Parishioners,
As some of you are preparing for your summer activities, please also mark your calendar for our 75th anniversary activities:

  • July 14: Feeding the homeless at Southside Community Church
  • July 23: Parish Picnic at OLM parking ground

I am also please to announce that Mr. George Brooks will lead our senior club as he is planning to welcome the seniors who are faithful to attend the daily Mass by providing coffee and tea after the daily morning Masses at the office’s terrace.
Starting September, in order to help our OLM students to be on time for their school morning activities, our parish council agreed to change our daily Mass schedule, Monday to Thursday, from 8.15 AM to 8 AM.
Regarding our project advance pledges so far we only have 77 families out of 1483 registered family, please help us to reach our goal as we can use this fund to renovate our gym and landscape our back garden to be a devotional garden.
I hope that you all will have a great summer with the protection from our Lord Jesus

Sincerely in Christ,
Father Nicolas

Year of Mercy Reflections
“Looking at Christ, we feel at the same time looked at by him. He whom we have pierced with our faults never tires of pouring out upon the world an inexhaustible torrent of merciful love.”
– Pope Benedict XVI

Weekly Catechism:

CHAPTER TWO: I BELIEVE IN JESUS CHRIST, THE ONLY SON OF GOD

ARTICLE 3 : “HE WAS CONCEIVED BY THE POWER OF THE HOLY SPIRIT, AND WAS BORN OF THE VIRGIN MARY”
Paragraph 3. The Mysteries of Christ’s Life
I. Christ’s Whole Life Is Mystery
Characteristics common to Jesus’ mysteries

Our communion in the mysteries of Jesus
519 All Christ’s riches “are for every individual and are everybody’s property.”187 Christ did not live his life for himself but for us, from his Incarnation “for us men and for our salvation” to his death “for our sins” and Resurrection “for our justification.”188
He is still “our advocate with the Father,” who “always lives to make intercession” for us.189 He remains ever “in the presence of God on our behalf, bringing before him all that he lived and suffered for us.”190
520 In all of his life Jesus presents himself as our model. He is “the perfect man,”191 who invites us to become his disciples and follow him. In humbling himself, he has given us an example to imitate, through his prayer he draws us to pray, and by his poverty he calls us to accept freely the privation and persecutions that may come our way.192
521 Christ enables us to live in himall that he himself lived, and he lives it in us. “By his Incarnation, he, the Son of God, has in a certain way united himself with each man.”193 We are called only to become one with him, for he enables us as the members of his Body to share in what he lived for us in his flesh as our model: We must continue to accomplish in ourselves the stages of Jesus’ life and his mysteries and often to beg him to perfect and realize them in us and in his whole Church. . . . For it is the plan of the Son of God to make us and the whole Church partake in his mysteries and to extend them to and continue them in us and in his whole Church. This is his plan for fulfilling his mysteries in us.194
Prayers for the Sick
In your prayers, please remember the sick:Anaceto Rabang, Sydney Shanti, Marie Piche, Lourdes Andal, George Gastaldo, Miguel Concon and Lorena Siglos, Candida De Souza, Pedro Romey and Dianne Slaght.
Holy Communion:  Any one who is shut-in and wishes to receive  the Eucharist please let us know.  If you have a loved one who is sick and needs our prayers,  and would like to insert their name  in the bulletin, kindly contact the office.

STEWARDSHIP REFLECTIONS

“For you were called to freedom, brothers and sisters. But do not use this freedom as an opportunity for the flesh; rather serve one another through love.”
— GALATIANS 5:13

We like to celebrate the fact that we are free to “live the good life.” But Jesus calls us to a different kind of freedom. St. Paul reminds us that Jesus sets us free so that we can serve one another, share our gifts and promote God’s work here on earth to glorify His name and not honor ourselves.
