“Everyone who drinks this water will be thirsty again.”
— JOHN 4:13
Jesus reminds us that material things, even something as basic as water, can never satisfy us for long. When we build our lives around material possessions we always want more. True Joy and Peace only comes when we follow Jesus; when we become more “God-centered” and less “self-centered”.

Encounter with my Lord…
I lived with my grandparents since I was very young. While they were not Christian, they are pretty religious and the concept of “God above everything” has been emphasized to me. Since I got married (it’s a Catholic marriage – with dispensation), I wanted to be a Catholic, but my ignorance delayed it to happen. And also at that time, I had many questions about the concept of Trinity. I saw the RCIA brochure on the OLM board 4 years ago and I intended to register. From RCIA I learned that in order to believe I need to have faith. As Saint Augustine quoted: Faith is to believe what you do not see; the reward of this faith is to see what you believe. I also learned from my peers, about their desires and willingness to seek God, while most of them are from non-religious background. When I reflected that fact into myself, I felt that I have wasted the chances and blessing that God has given me. Now, I feel that I have faith to continue my step into higher journey to be a follower of Jesus and as Jesus’ followers we have to be ready to accept His grace. There will be many challenges and sufferings but I believe that God will always be with us. Andrew*)
I immigrated to Vancouver, Canada when I was 17. Before I came to RCIA, I started praying for God since I was a teenager but I hid this feeling because my Buddhist family would not approve. I prayed off and on until two years ago when my dad was very sick. I prayed that he will fully recover, which he did. I was very grateful. That is the moment I realized that I should open the door of my heart and let God in. This time, I do want to follow my heart. I told my parents and surprisingly my parents are fully supported me. I believe this is God blessing me. RCIA helped me discover God’s love in a lot of ways, especially through the leaders. Since RCIA, I’ve discovered that I feel more peaceful and I pray more. I do believe God hears me and blesses me through my family and friends. Jesus gave me His grace and I want to follow Him. I see myself as a Catholic already. Brenda*)

Do you fast? Give me proof of it by your works
If you see a poor man, take pity on him. If you see a friend being honoured, do not envy him. Do not let only your mouth fast but also the eye, and the ear, and the feet, and the hands, and all the members of our bodies.
— Saint John Chrysostom
