WEEKLY CATECHISM: CHAPTER TWO: I BELIEVE IN JESUS CHRIST, THE ONLY SON OF GOD
III. The Mysteries of Jesus’ Public Life
Jesus’ messianic entrance into Jerusalem
560 Jesus’ entry into Jerusalem manifested the coming of the kingdom that the King-Messiah was going to accomplish by the Passover of his Death and Resurrection. It is with the celebration of that entry on Palm Sunday that the Church’s liturgy solemnly opens Holy Week.

IN BRIEF

561 “The whole of Christ’s life was a continual teaching: his silences, his miracles, his gestures, his prayer, his love for people, his special affection for the little and the poor, his acceptance of the total sacrifice on the Cross for the redemption of the world, and his Resurrection are the actualization of his word and the fulfillment of Revelation” (John Paul II, CT 9). 562 Christ’s disciples are to conform themselves to him until he is formed in them (cf. Gal 4:19). “For this reason we, who have been made like to him, who have died with him and risen with him, are taken up into the mysteries of his life, until we reign together with him” (LG 7 § 4). 563 No one, whether shepherd or wise man, can approach God here below except by kneeling before the manger at Bethlehem and adoring him hidden in the weakness of a new-born child. 564 By his obedience to Mary and Joseph, as well as by his humble work during the long years in Nazareth, Jesus gives us the example of holiness in the daily life of family and work.

STEWARDSHIP REFLECTIONS

“For God so loved the world that He gave His only Son…” JOHN 3:16
Is your love conditional? Is there a price others have to pay to receive your love? Are you generous with your time, money and possessions? If you give someone something, do you expect something in return? Do you give your time freely or do you “fit it in” when it’s convenient for you? Pray for a grateful and generous heart.
Office of Stewardship & the ACA, Archdiocese of Saint Louis, Missouri
When we have been to Holy Communion, the balm of love envelops the soul as the flower envelops the bee.

PROJECT ADVANCE 2017
project-advance-2017Project Advance is our annual appeal that enables the pastoral work and spiritual mission of our local Church to flourish. Your gift to Project Advance helps us meet the material and spiritual need of our Church and parishes. This year’s appeal focuses on the message One Faith. One Church. One Family. Our faith community is expansive and despite our geographical locations and our cultural diversity, which is to be celebrated, we are all united by our faith; we all belong to one Church. View this year’s video or find out more about the works supported by Project Advance at www.projectadvance.ca
Your gift to Project Advance last year in the parish has been used to pay the changing of the part of parish school library wall. This year, our parish goal is $200,000. We will start saving for the building of our future Parish Centre and Rectory. Together let us continue to live gratefully and give generously. Our Project Advance Volunteers will be available after each Mass to accept your pledge/donation.

VANCOUVER IS A CITY THAT WELCOMES STRANGERS
Did you know that in 2016, our country welcomed 260,404 migrants, 23,265 refugees and 51,679 seasonal labourers? On Sunday, June 11, pastors from different churches around Vancouver will be preaching about the same message: “Welcoming the Stranger.” As Catholics, we are called to “welcome the stranger” and we have been praying for an increase of charity, hope and faith in our community. From settling refugees to sheltering the homeless, here are a few numbers on how many refugees were welcomed in our country, province, and Archdiocese, as well as how many were welcomed at the Men’s Hostel and the Door is Open: http://rcav.org/one-city-one-message/
