Encounter with my Lord…
Encounter with my Lord…
“Grace-Lyn” (not her real name) heard God’s voice giving her guidance and courage to make a life decision. She is happily awaiting the birth of her 2nd child. I was baptized in OLM Church and feel very blessed knowing God, building a connection with God and receiving the love of God every day. I joined RCIA a few years ago because of my friend. I wanted to understand the catholic faith as I had no faith growing up. In RCIA, I got to know God more and realized that it is Him who brought me to the church and not because I choose to come here. The more I got to know God through Jesus Christ, the more I love Him and the stronger connection I have with Him. One day I just realized that God already tried so many ways to call me and lead me to His side. About 7 years ago was the toughest year in my life. I was still in the last year of the school when I found out that I was pregnant. I did not plan to have a baby so early and still have a lot of plans to do before that. All my family did not support me either and they thought I am too young to have a child. I was in panic and so worried. But one night I had a dream. In my dream there was one naked boy sleeping in the water, and then there was a man’s voice coming from above saying “keep this boy as this is a gift for you”. Then I woke up during the night and felt a lot of courage and love without any fear at all. After that dream I told my whole family my decision to keep the baby no matter how hard it was. It seems that everything became better after that dream. My family then supported my decision as they can tell I was so sure about it. I got married with my husband and later we had an amazing son who is the best gift in my world. At that time I did not realize it was God’s voice during my dream and he tried to tell me he will support me and take care of me until I came to OLM Church and RCIA I can never forget that dream and the voice I heard that night. Every time I have difficulties and fear, it gives me courage and energy. I know God loves me so much and I will love him and live my faith in my life.

“To each is given the manifestation of the Spirit for the common good.” – 1 CORINTHIANS 12:7
To receive the gift of the Holy Spirit you must open your heart and let Him in! Open your heart and be grateful for all the gifts God has given us. Regardless of your circumstance, God has given us all blessings. What we do with those gifts is our gift back to God. Generously sharing our gifts keeps us more “God-centered” and less “self-centered”.

When we have been to Holy Communion, the balm of love envelops the soul as the flower envelops the bee.
PROJECT ADVANCE 2017
Project Advance is our annual appeal that enables the pastoral work and spiritual mission of our local Church to flourish. Your gift to Project Advance helps us meet the material and spiritual need of our Church and parishes. This year’s appeal focuses on the message One Faith. One Church. One Family. Our faith community is expansive and despite our geographical locations and our cultural diversity, which is to be celebrated, we are all united by our faith; we all belong to one Church. View this year’s video or find out more about the works supported by Project Advance at www.projectadvance.ca
Your gift to Project Advance last year in the parish has been used to pay the changing of the part of parish school library wall. This year, our parish goal is $200,000. We will start saving for the building of our future Parish Centre and Rectory. Together let us continue to live gratefully and give generously. Our Project Advance Volunteers will be available after each Mass to accept your pledge/donation.
To date we have received a total donations of $25,404 from 349 parishioners.
We would like to invite you to have a look at handmade religious articles and souvenirs made by the Sisters of Saint Elisabeth Convent (Belarus) who will visit Our Lady of Mercy church on Friday, June 9. The Sisterhood of Saint Elisabeth was founded in 1996. For more than 15 years sisters have been rendering spiritual, social and financial support to the sick and the suffering at the National Psychiatric Clinic, the boarding home for children with special needs and mentally challenged adults, a TB clinic. Workshops were established on the grounds of the Convent to help these people. Many of the sick people have a possibility to express themselves in art for God working together with the nuns and sisters and making beautiful articles (hand painted icons, crosses, crucifixes, woodcarvings, embroidered and ceramic gifts, vestments). You can support by purchasing items of devotions for yourselves and your beloved ones.
