“For if we live, we live for the Lord, and if we die, we die for the Lord; so then, whether we live or die, we are the Lord’s” – ROMANS 14:8
This is the essence of stewardship – everything we have and everything we are is a gift from God. We aren’t “owners” of anything, we are merely “stewards” of the gifts that God has given us, especially our very own lives. Pray to God, daily, and ask Him how He wants you to use the gifts He has given you.

Article 4
577 At the beginning of the Sermon on the Mount Jesus issued a solemn warning in which he presented God’s law, given on Sinai during the first covenant, in light of the grace of the New Covenant:
Do not think that I have come to abolish the law or the prophets: I have come not to abolish but to fulfill. For truly I tell you, until heaven and earth pass away, not one letter, not one stroke of a letter, will pass from the law, until all is accomplished. Therefore, whoever breaks one of the least of these commandments, and teaches others to do the same, will be called least in the kingdom of heaven; but whoever does them and teaches them will be called great in the kingdom of heaven.329
578 Jesus, Israel’s Messiah and therefore the greatest in the kingdom of heaven, was to fulfill the Law by keeping it in its all-embracing detail—according to his own words, down to “the least of these commandments.”330 He is in fact the only one who could keep it perfectly.331 On their own admission the Jews were never able to observe the Law in its entirety without violating the least of its precepts.332 This is why every year on the Day of Atonement the children of Israel ask God’s forgiveness for their transgressions of the Law. The Law indeed makes up one inseparable whole, and St. James recalls, “Whoever keeps the whole law but fails in one point has become guilty of all of it.”

project-advance-2017Project Advance is our annual appeal that enables the pastoral work and spiritual mission of our local Church to flourish. Your gift to Project Advance helps us meet the material and spiritual need of our Church and parishes. This year’s appeal focuses on the message One Faith. One Church. One Family. Our faith community is expansive and despite our geographical locations and our cultural diversity, which is to be celebrated, we are all united by our faith; we all belong to one Church. View this year’s video or find out more about the works supported by Project Advance at www.projectadvance.ca
Your gift to Project Advance last year in the parish has been used to pay the changing of the part of parish school library wall. This year, our parish goal is $200,000. We will start saving for the building of our future Parish Centre and Rectory. Together let us continue to live gratefully and give generously. Our Project Advance Volunteers will be available after each Mass to accept your pledge/donation.
To date we have received a total donations of $60,998 from 497 parishioners.

Losing a loved one is sad indeed. Very often, it happens quite suddenly and the family does not know what to do. It is also very stressful to the family members who have to find a funeral home, arrange the funeral service and find a burial place within a short period of time. In view of this, our parish is setting up a bereavement group to assist the grieving families by giving them:
1. the spiritual support through prayers and consolation;
2. guidelines and advices on funeral arrangement;
3. help setting the funeral liturgies, such as choosing Mass readings and music etc.
Those who are interested in joining the team and reaching out to our brothers and sisters who are much in need of our help in this difficult period of time, please contact Deacon Ken at [email protected] There will be training sessions including site visits to the funeral home and cemetery.

Join Fr. Rodney Nootebos, Director of Vocations and Seminarians, along with other members of the Faithful throughout the Archdiocese, in a monthly Holy Hour of prayer, intensely focused on asking the “Lord of the Harvest to send forth labourers into the harvest.” The first Holy Hour is at St. Patrick’s Parish in Vancouver on September 21 at 7:00 p.m. Visit rcav.org for full schedule of parishes, dates and times.
