“A good tree does not bear rotten fruit, nor does a rotten tree bear good fruit.” (Luke 6:43)
Are you using your God-given gifts in the way God intended? Do you compare yourself to others and complain about what you don’t have instead of being thankful for what you do have? God gives each of us unique gifts and a unique plan. Listen
to how God is calling you to use your gifts, to bear good fruit, for the glory of His name.

101 Questions about the Catholic Mass
Is it true that the more I participate in Mass, the more grace I will receive for myself and for others?
Yes, the more we participate in Mass with faith and devotion, the more grace we receive. Every Mass is a source of countless graces that are so needed today. For this reason, daily Mass is strongly encouraged. St. Leonard said that, except for daily Mass on the thousands of altars around the world, the human race would long ago have been destroyed because if its sins. This can be said even more so in our day, with its crisis of faith and escalation of sin. A Mass well participated in can change the world and greatly help other persons and the souls in Purgatory.

RESEARCHED AND WRITTEN BY LITO
This new column is contributed by Lito Aurellado, one of RCIA catechists in our parish. The following is the second part of his writing: A POLISH PIONEER PRIEST.
Being a priest, he was subjected to the worst treatment in prison that included violent beatings and hard labor. A prisoner was given one stale bread as daily ration. Kolbe shared his bread with his fellow prisoners. In July 1941, a Jewish prisoner escaped the cell block where Kolbe was imprisoned.
To deter further escapes, the Nazi deputy camp commander picked 10 prisoners from the same cell block to be starved to death in an underground bunker. One of the 10 cried out he had a wife and children. Kolbe volunteered to take his place saying, “I am a Catholic priest from Poland; I would like to take his place because he has a wife and children.”
While in the bunker with the other 9 prisoners, Kolbe led them in prayers and singing hymns to the Virgin Mary. Two weeks of starvation had taken its toll on the prisoners.
By the time the guards checked the bunker, all prisoners had died of dehydration and starvation except Kolbe, who was kneeling and praying. The Germans needed the bunker to house new prisoners so they had to vacate it immediately. The guards gave Kolbe a lethal injection of carbolic acid. He died on the 14th of August 1941. He was cremated the following day, the 15th of August – the feast day of the Assumption of Mary. Kolbe was 47.
Stricken with tuberculosis, Kolbe is known to wake up every morning saying, “The Immaculate has not called me yet.” One of Kolbe’s memorable quotes is, “Never be afraid of loving the Blessed Virgin too much. You can never love her more than Jesus did.” St. Maximilian Mary Kolbe pioneered the use of communications, both print and radio, as well as organizing associations and a hospital in promoting the veneration of the Virgin Mary.
He was canonized a saint on the 10th of October 1982 by Pope John Paul II. During his canonization, Pope John Paul II declared him The Saint of our Difficult Century. He is also known as the Apostle of Consecration to Mary due to his devotion to The Blessed Virgin Mary.
