“The Rite of Election is intended for those who have not yet been baptized. Candidates for full communion with the Catholic Church, together with baptized Catholics who are preparing to receive the sacraments of Confirmation and Eucharist, receive a prayer of blessing from the Archbishop. The Church recognizes that the baptized belong to Christ and enjoy a union with the Church, even if that union is not yet complete. Their journey, therefore, is different than that of catechumens.”
